|
|
I will soon go to interview with Interac, I know there are problems but considering my current job is not doing much for me this is a step up. (which is sad ) My question to anyone gracious enough to share is in regards to the 3 day unpaid training will be a stretch for me. I am currently working so I can't just stop what I am doing to train for free. I am sure interac will tell me all the details later but I would like to have as much information before I go.
Can I take these training days on Saturdays?
Will they be held within the mornings, as I work the afternoons and evenings?
How many hours per day must I go through this?
I know they will tell me if I pass the initial interview. Not sure what they will train me in. But any information will help as I would like to go in there with some information as opposed to going in blind. |

if they like you they will not worry too much about the training. i missed the first whole day.
didnt feel like i learnt anything in their training very useful. basically they give you ideas of how to run some lessons and plan and game ideas. at the end of training you will do a 20 minute demo with a partner, and pretty much that is about it. oh you will need to do the physical on one of the days.
working for interac isnt too bad, you have very little contact with the company if they are happy with you and i have always been paid on time, contrary to popular opinion. sure they are stealing some of my money by not having me work directly for the boe but some of us need visas and jobs. thats a problem i can tackle later when i make strong connections at the schools.
many say interac are using you but remember they are there to be used too, its a 2 way street.
(im probably gonna get flamed for this) |

I'm completely with you there. I work for Interac and i'm having such an easy time. The points that aren't so great are soon balanced out by the good points. It doesn't appear that I ever really do any work, it's the easiest job I can imagine It doesn't even feel like they excist, apart from the monthly reports etc and the odd e-mail. I'm completely left alone, which for me is great. Depends on how much support you need. |

Not a flame, but just an observation from a private school direct-hire. My school pretty much wants me to stay on for as long as I'm willing to work there. I get full salary for the winter and summer breaks (300,000 a month btw). There is also a semi-annual bonus (the last one was 100,000). They sponsored my visa and enrolled me in a private health insurance/pension plan that exceeds the coverage of shakai hoken. I recommend going direct-hire over dispatch if you can get it. |

Any recommendations on how to get directly hired?
Do I just walk in to any school and see if they have a position available? |

What do you think? Is this how you'd go about getting hired at a school back in your home country?
I found my job on ohayosensei. Check the papers, job websites, etc... |
