On a skinny girl's T shirt; Shenzhen Uni:

J'aime mes petit tetons; I love my little boobs. Indeed.

A sign in NZ, Takapuna, along time ago: Kiddie KUT

This is a very rude Dutch word, for English, add N

A store near Futako-tamagawaen station in Tokyo always used to give me a laugh - the name, in large green and red letters, was "Violence Jack Off".

Seen over the exit door of a Guangzhou urban bus:
"Don't stand on the stairs. Don't get off until the bus parks well."

In Japan, I used to buy my monthly rail pass from a computerized ticket machine (they had English instructions - YAY!). At one stage in the procees, you are asked to press a button on the touch screen to indicate your gender (You've already typed in your full name and birthday. I always wondered when they were going to ask for my favourite colour). But the instruction displayed was "Touch Your Sex." Eek! Right here in the station?

My other favourite was on a t-shirt worn by a woman in her fifties at the local ward office. "Hot P*ssy" Thanks for sharing lady!

Not exactly a sign, this, more of a label. The Co-op supermarket here in the UK used to do a generic brand of frozen toad in the hole*. On the front of the box, in one corner, was the following bizarre announcement:

"Don't throw that sausage away - it'll come in handy!"

*don't be frightened. This isn't anything scary, just sausages trapped helplessly in a swollen pancake.

Hey R, when I was in England this past April, I kept seeing signs at train stops that said "Mind the Gap". I thought that this must be some funky Gap advertisement until someone set me straight. Laughing

Capergirl - what a shame it they aren't Gap ads. I see Mr T on a poster, dressed in Gap knaki and saying "I pity the foo' who don't be minding the gap!"

But then, I see a lot of things.

In Riyadh, they seemed to give the workers a bucketful of letters to stick on the front of the business in random order. I'm struggling with my own spelling now, having been in the Middle East too long, but I still wonder if the doctor who was an obstetrician and gynocologist had any customers.

One of my pet peeves is the universal notice posted on the back of the plane seat in front of you:

" Fasten seat belt while seated "

You ever try fastening it while standing?

Regards,
John

Turkish Airlines' planes used to display the following notice on the seat in front:

"Please use bottom cushion for flotation"!

I miss it!

On a map to give directions to a certain place in this city, one building was labelled "Hamad Hospital Nurses Hostile".

You can buy chocolate cream-filled biscuits here in Turkey called 'Negro'. They aren't as good as Oreos and they always make me think of Rosa Parks and Civil Rights battles and Mississippi and other things that are both anachronistic as well as, um, anageographic. Very Happy

O, and here in cosmopolitan Cappadocia you can dine on Grilled Mead Balls, Vegetarian kebabs (described in menu as Vegetarians grilled on a skewer) and, most gleefully written on one restaurant sign, if you want to, you can cook yourself!

I could copy down whole menus here for a ten page laugh...
