I follow the blog by Ana Maria Salazar to find out what's happening in our nation. If anyone wishes an unbiased and well presented account of what's going on in Mexico, this is the place to read. She does an English news program as well. Don't know if this has been mentioned in the past in this forum or not; can't recall.

Mexico Today
Mexico Today is your daily dose of news and analysis regarding the most relevant events in Mexico. This blog is moderated by Ana Maria Salazar, host of "Imagen News", the only nation-wide radio news program in English broadcasted from Mexico. Need to know what is going on in Mexico during this election year? Mexico Today is the place to go.

Thanks for the link, Samantha.

And delacosta, thanks for your insights. You do an infinitely better job of representing for the left on this board than Moonraven ever did.

This site isn't updated frequently, but it has some well-selected links:

It's sad to see Mexico in such a state when things are looking up elsewhere in Latin America. This will be a very intriguing, if not entirely pleasant, six years.

The UN's HDI report for 2006 is out and available. http://hdr.undp.org/hdr2006/ This is a good read to critically look at Mexico from a statistics point of view, year over year. It doesn't look at the divisions within Mexico unfortunately, but it does offer a non-politicized analysis of actual trends with actual data.

Access to water is the main focus in this year's report. Scroll down to page 283 for hard data.

No comments on the PFP's actions in raiding state police offices?
