I have 10 years teaching experience in Japan. The last 5 of which have been at a university. I would have a pretty kick ass reference and the uni is very well respected, but I am sure that would mean nothing to a potential employee in Indonesia. I do, though I say it myself, have very good teaching skills and would be more than happy to give a trial lesson.
On the other hand, I only have a BA from a very mediocra university.
I am 38 and I look professional enough.

So just curious. What do you guys think I would be able to land in terms of pay and conditions?

i'm actually a little more interested in why you would want to come back here. if my memory serves me correctly, aren't you the author of the " is indo just full of a bunch of sad losers?" thread?...i know that you hold a soft spot in your heart for this place but if you read 99% of all the posts on our little forum here, you would objectively have to answer your own question with a Y-E-S.

ps- if you do come back here, stay as far away from Canggu as you can.. evil lives there i tells ya...evil

Yep, I don't understand it myself. Smile I think Indonesia for me will always be like a guy's first girlfriend. I was a crap teacher, working for a well dodgy language school without a work visa I might add. I lived in a one room concrete box on the edge of Medan. I got sick a lot. Picked up my first STD. And I had trouble with immigration that involved cash payments and me finally leaving the country.

I since got qualified, well at least a TEFL Smile, made it to Japan. I earn US$70k a year Smile for teaching 9 hours a week. I get 5 months holidays.

AND YET

I still daydream about returning. Confused Especially about this time of year when winter starts to rear it's ugly head.

Well, I believe you were the one going to Korea I few months back and now your back in Japan? Ok what ever; I think you could have a nice life here with a good job, but just as has been said the compaction for good jobs is quit tough here. And most are in JKT, but just come on down and give it a try as they say, who ever they are.
