around the first of the summer two years ago ..a construction manager ..had some convicts dug a trench on the side of the street where I lived and didn't bother to inform me so when I returned home ..half of my bike was buried in the dirt cast off from the hole...I was pi$$ed, and went to talk with him about this infraction..but he didn't really register any concern..mad..I left and went straight to the corner ..hired 6 men to fill back in the ditch..and when the crew arrived the next day to lay the pipe, the ditch was gone (filled in) and my bike was parked on top of what used to be the sewer's future resting place... he was as pi$$ed as I was the day before..and I was as cavalier...
What I am offering..is the elimination of basket post...

I have a slingshot (catapult to you UK guys) and a collection of solid, round steel balls. Works wonders!

not sure if the school is involved or not, or if its just good luck, but its 10:45 am on saturday, and there's only 4 guys out there with one ball, so its pretty tolerable right now as far as noise goes. normally there'd be 40 or 50 kids out there with 15 balls. so today i'm rather pleased......

edit: its now 11:15 and there are NO basketballs being bounced around out there. this is a first. now i'm interested to see if it's gonna carry on into the future. but i'll enjoy this while it lasts......

This is a topic close to my heart.

When we first arrived in Guangxi after almost 30 hours of travel we were shown to our large, spacious apartment and proceeded to sleep like logs ...for about 3 hours; at which point the construction in the apartments above and below us began.
Every morning and I do mean EVERY morning for 9 months it started at about 7 a.m and continued to around 11:30 when the 'lads' would break for lunch and siesta. Unfortunately for them it was around this time that we would come home from morning classes for lunch. We enjoyed relaxing to music and even though my wife is no fan of Judas Priest, Kiss or Black Sabbath she allowed me my ten minutes of fun cranking the snot out of the stereo.

It solved nothing but on days when I was in the apartment alone I would sometimes crank it and leave to go shopping...made me feel better anyway.

Next stop, on campus at a middle school in Jiangsu province.
We lived above the cafeteria and were woken every morning around 6 a.m by the staff coming in to set up and prepare for the onslaught of hungry, brekkie-seeking kids. Nothing we could do about that, they had their jobs to do. The nightly fireworks were something else though. I can count on the fingers of one hand the nights in our 6 month stay that there weren't fireworks going off close to the school, in the street, in the construction site nearby or down side alleys.

Next stop; off campus, different school, same province.
Our apartment is conveniently located right across the road from a construction site where a large shopping mall is being built. Man, these guys start early, thumping machinery, screeching saws, shouting, banging, hammering...bring it on baby...I came back from Canada with EAR PLUGS!!!
Slept 'till 10:30 a.m this morning and I WASN'T hung over.

Laughing
