I was told this is the best route of getting work in France.
1. Start applying by email from my home country (Ireland) in August/September when I will have completed my CELTA.
2. Aim for cities and towns off the beaten track but with a lot of students. That is to say, not Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, where there are a lot of TEFL teachers, but places like Rennes, Nantes, Toulouse, which are not fashionable and therefore attract fewer teachers so schools there pay better and you've more chance of getting work there.
3. This way, apparently, you can end up with a good job before even travelling to France.
Is it true? |

Wow, who told you this stuff? I have never heard of this method. This is not Taiwan or Korea and by the way stay the *beep* away from Nantes, one of the biggest shiteholes in France...try Strasbourg... |

Nope. It depends a bit where you want to work, but I think you'd only find a job at a VERY dodgy private language school this way. To work for anybody reputable, you have to be in France. If you want to work in the state system, you can apply for jobs as an assistant in schools around January or as a lecteur from about March. Both of these jobs give you enough time to take on some private tuition as well if you want more money and more variety. |

Or, come to France and look for a vacancy as a "vacataire" or temporary replacement teacher.
But the main thing is ..............you'll have more chance of success when you are immediately available for an intervview in France |
