I recently applied for a position with Web International and was wondering if anyone has taught for their chain of schools. If you have, could you let me know how your experience went with them and what city you were in? |

Good starter job but not a career move. |

Do a quick search and you will find pages and pages of discussions on Web. |

Actually a search here on Dave's turns up only two hits in the first two hundred returns that actually have the word WEB in the title. This thread is one of them. I've seen many WEB related threads over time, but actually try using the search function here on Dave's and I think you will be as surprised as I was that there is next to nothing. A friend had asked me about WEB and so I searched and came up with next to nothing. I would love it if you could direct me to the "pages and pages" as I want to read them. Thanks! |

Off-topic, sorry. Yeah, the SEARCH function is practically useless. If TW or others who are successful at using search could share with us the secrets, I for one would really appreciate it. Also, a search function should yield results right away so you don't have to spend hours slogging through posts to try and find what you are looking for.
I was thinking of applying at WEB for a PT job after the Spring Festival, but maybe I'm too lazy to do that. Anyone with info for the OP or about their PT policy would be great to read. |

I have been at Web Int. for 3 years now. I will probably sign another contract when this one is up. Here is the good and bad
Good
Salary
Working Environment
Students
Housing
Bad
Holidays
Medical Expenses (there is none)
The work hours are long, doesn't bother me but some people don't like them
Kev,
I can only speak for the two Web schools that I am familiar with but part-time teachers are paid by the hour, 100 rmb per hour. |

I whole-heartedly concur, I've tried to use it numerous times and it never seems to yield anything except thread after thread of info where maybe the words you typed in are mentioned.

Again, I concur.
Holidays suck but pay, working environment, students and accomodations are good. I'm also working for Web right now. Figured I'd best state that right away so that nobody comes on and starts ranting about employees not being forthright about their employers. |

never mind the search on daves forums or any other sites...this thread is interestingly just a follow up of yet another one (hard to miss on the first page)

OP, couldn't you have continued that one?
WEB sounds interesting since I've already mentioned those attractive Chinese receptionists from one center. I'd wonder what their standard salary and work load is as well as what their teaching materials and students are
Peace to Chinese management techniques that might not be present at WEB
and
cheers and beers to all WEB FTs around China |

The answer to that question and more are available in the other thread but to summarize, from what I know; salaries vary depending on location and hours are capped at 25 per week, anything in excess is considered overtime but it's paid monthly.
This is a bit of a rook 'cos they'll get you to work 6 hours a day when it suits them but then they will reduce your hours at the end of the month (when possible) so they don't have to pay you the overtime.
As a result I just don't do overtime hours; 5 hours a day can be a grind but 6 is bordering on masochistic.
Other than that they seem like a pretty decent company to work for overall. |

A recruiter I am friendly with keeps trying to get me to go to WEB or WEBI as she calles it, but I told her I really don't want to work 40 hours a week in a mill.
i can do 20 - 25 over 5 days but i really hate working Sat and Sun.
It just feels funny to have to work the weekend... |
