Elf would be a good movie to watch this time of the year.

And Porky's...

I would recomment including movies of different types of humor. Tootsie (one of my very favorites) is an entirely different kind of humor from Naked Gun. I would probably also include something from Buster Keaton or Charlie Chaplin. Use movies from different generations.
Some of my favorite comedies? Tootsie, Groundhog Day, Clueless, Fletch, and The Purple Rose of Cairo.
And don't forget Demolition Man. Yes, it was an action flick, but also one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. (And just what was one supposed to do with the three seashells?)

I would include a "dramedy" in there as well. You know, one of those movies that has comedic elements and funny scenes, but also has dramatic areas as well. "Steel Magnolias" comes to mind as one example.

A few of my favorite comedies from year's past:

The Pink Panther (not the Steve Martin remake)
Tootsie
Airplane
The Naked Gun series

And I agree with others by including classic comedy as well. Maybe a representative comedy from each decade. Most big cities in China will have at least one DVD store where you can find classics - - if you find the DVD store that is.

the big labowski - the graduate - Dr. strangelove

Now films like these - where comedy makes you think - well they would certainly test the Chinese sense of humour - but I doubt whether they'd be a classroom success.

Don't forget Scary move 1-4, it's great. And also, Date Movie is good.

Then you can show one episode of Desperate housewives for a more sophisticated humor.

Oh, and i just saw one "Campus pledges", is has to do a lot with the lighter side of college life.

What a great class.
