Hi,
I will be moving out to hk regardless of employment situation at the end of jan( my wife has been offered to run her hk office) i have no degree or anything apart from high school education.
i recently undertook a tefl course to give me some kinda chance (albeit not much).
i did get offered a job in sales in hk last year, but it was comm only.
i have been in sales for 11 years now but i am also a plasterer, my reasoning for doing a tefl course was that builders are more commonly imported as cheap labour etc.
Can anyone HELP?
ideas would be great.
cheers

If you want a job in Hong Kong your problem will be the employment visa. There was a change to the system some time ago and spouses didn't automatically get a working visa. I think there have been some changes to this so you would have to check.
With regard to getting a job, I know various people who work in language centres who have no teaching background so you will be able to get some form of work but it all depends on the sort of salary etc you are expecting.

If your wife is entitled to work here, then you should get a dependant's visa which also entitles you to work. As far as teaching is concerned, your lack of experience wouldn't be a problem but I don't know of any school that employs teachers who do not have a degree. Indeed, one of the requirements for the work visa is that you have a degree so if you are not entitled to a dependant's visa, I don't see how you will be able to get a work visa. It may be that the requirements are different for other professions though so there may be something else that you can do?
