I applied for Nova exactly 3 weeks ago but still have not heard back from them. For those of you that have applied to Nova, how long did it take you to hear back from them? |

It seemed like they got back to me real quick, as in a week or two I can't really remember. You can always email them and ask what's going on. Do you meet their qualifications? |

Better question: Do you exceed their qualifications by too much. The last guy who posted a message like yours had years of experience and I think he owned his own language center. I don't work for them, but from what I've read about them on this forum, it sounds like they want people with no experience and no training. As one guy put it, they don't want people coming in there with preconceived ideas about how they think they should teach. They want somebody who's starting from scratch so they can mold you into the kind of teacher they want you to be; or so I'm told. |

Yep, I have an MA-TESOL. I also have 2 years of experience as an ALT with the JET Program. I filled out their on-line app and got an e-mail within a week to come interview at the next session in my area. |

I don't think I'm over-qualified. I have no esl training and in school I majored in chemistry. I spent a year teaching junior high math in Thailand. This job was sweet but I didn't like the lesson planning, marking, or trying to manage an entire class of hyper teenagers for whom math is their lowest priority. Another thing I didn't like was the extracurricular activities (planning day-long Christmas programs (I'm serious about the day-long thing, started at like 3 and went till like 10 not including set up and clean up), overnight camps, supervision, standing at the booth at the private school conference so they can show off that they have white people, etc.). I probably worked about 60 hours a week for $650 Canadian a month. But I didn't go for the money so that was ok. But it seems like Nova doesn't have much lesson planning (ie you don't make them up yourself but use theirs, although I would of course spend a few minutes reviewing the lesson), marking, or extracurricular activities which is what interested me in the job. Anyways, maybe I'll email them and ask if anything was missing from my application. |

nova recruiting can be a bit random sometimes because of the way they work out their quotas for how many teachers to recruit for each area. sometimes the length of time it takes to hear back relates to staffing decisions within the company. |

I had heard that NOVA was doing some sort of "hiring blitz" where they were recruiting a ton of people. Perhaps it's over. Perhaps they've met their quota and aren't hiring as many people now; although I had also heard that the primary hiring season is in the spring. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. |

On Saturday I emailed Nova asking if they received my application. Today I got two emails from them and a phone call asking me to come for an interview. |
