Neat casual is fine. Some more expensive private schools [where the kids wear uniforms] may want a tie. I've never heard of a suit being required; I think that's Japan. |

Being casual is fine. I would suggest you not wear shorts in the classroom though. That is me of course. |

Winer is approaching, so if you get posted to Peking you are not going to be dreaming of putting on shorts anyway!
In the deep south, however, you can wear your polo shirt and shorts throughout most of the winter although it does get quite chilly for a few weeks at a time!
A lot of white and colour chalk dust in the classroom... think of its effects on your suit!
Wear smart casual! |

in my school---it's anything goes! chinese teachers are wearing a suit and some students just go the classroom wearing an undershirt, shorts and (!) slipper in summer! some consider their classroom as an extension of their crowded dormitories.
yuckks!!! |

If you don't like to pack a lot, just wear a pair of black leather pants, a leather jacket and a T-shirt. Everyone likes leather and the chalk doesn't stick to it, and neither will the food you spill when you are getting accustomed to using chop sticks. Because you are from the future, you should have a good pair of sunglasses that house some kind of psycho-cyborg t-ray technology. |
