"With Gulf currencies pegged to the US dollar, the weakness of the US currency has sharply reduced the attractiveness of Gulf salaries in Euro and Sterling terms..."

Key highlights include: Rents in Dubai and Doha have risen much faster than salaries.
Saving rates in the UAE are now the lowest in the region, with 43% of expatriates reporting no savings.
Saudi Arabia has the lowest cost of living in the region, with housing rents less than half of the UAE.
Spiralling living costs in the UAE fail to deter inflow of expats, with Dubai still the most popular destination in the Gulf.

Yeah, we know, we heard this same story two years ago. Fortunately. some of us don't have to care about "Euro and Sterling terms".
