Hi there,
This is my first post, so I thought I'd start it off with a bang. I've done my best searching the forums before this, and I can't seem to find much info on Moldova here. Just a few random posts. I don't know if this is good or bad...but I'm hoping I might find someone out there with some real experience there.
So, I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions about Moldova. I want to go there in the spring and get a job in the summer.
Anyone out there have any experience in or about Moldova?
Thanks.

Jason

So should I take the lack of replies to mean that nobody knows anything about Moldova? Or is it just that nobody wants to talk to me? Crying or Very sad
Cheers,
Jason

I've never been there, but I can tell you that Moldova is the poorest country in Europe. And perhaps for this reason, I've never seen any EFL positions advertised for that country.

I lived & taught in Romania (which borders Moldova) for a year.

The two countries share many traditions, even language;

most Moldovans speak Romanian as well as Russian.

To echo what canucktechie wrote above ...

most schools don't have $ to hire foreign teachers,

although there are a few schools where you could enquire:

Teachers earning decent money in Moldova are those

that come over with an NGO. The NGOs pay well.

The schools themselves simply can't afford to.

La mulţi ani (Happy New Year! in Romanian)

Thanks folks.
That's sort of the sense I've been getting from my research about the country.
Either way, I appreciate the thoughts. And thanks for the links, Kent.

^ Not at all.

Speaking of NGO's - if you're American

you could look into the ELF Program

through Georgetown University:

ELF / Moldova

and/or the Soros Foundation:

Soros Foundation / Moldova

I found that Soros foundation. I haven't had the chance to look deeper into it, but it looked interesting. That will definitely be one that I go back to.
Thanks again.
