Folks:
Thanks to all concerned with your comments.
Ghost's personal doctor has strongly advised it not to take up the position on offer, because the stress of the position might produce deleterious consequences on the health of poor ghost......
Ghost spent a week in a Taiwan hospital last year, and does not want to go through that again....

| Still worth working on this project. IAT has disappointed us - project not what we thought, but at the girls school we are making headway. Many of us are settled, wouldnt still be here if it wasnt for support of project manager and the school management. Want to do something different next year but, so keen to see what the 2007 brings. And, we get good pay, on time and good allowances. |

You've been smoking way too much wacky backy in your shisha, girl!
Go ask Alice, I think she'll know... |

| It's not so much the wacky backy in the shisha but the fact that the supervisor at the girl's school spends more time in the shopping malls (MOD edit) |

We lost this morning our excellent Supervisor at the Boys School - he resigned, greatly disillusioned by the chronic lack of progress, support, honesty, help, and communication from his employers.
He will be very sadly missed.
He returns to Canada a little saddened, slightly more hardened, and perhaps a less idealistic man, because of the way this 'Project' isn't. |

Mid-30s.
Aged considerably in his four months tenure.
Blood pressure skyrocketed.
Not the only one to suffer such. |

... the fact that it only took him 4 months to fall apart says more about him than it does about the employer.
Sounds like he hadn't educated himself about how the Middle East works... it is not place for the naive and uninformed...

Those are some of the reasons ghost would find it difficult to ``accept`` a position like that, despite a good pay and savings package....
Ghost is now substitute teaching in Quebec (ESL) replacing two teachers who left on ``burnout`` - one of the teachers left after 2 weeks on the job.....
In Canada the situation can be demoralizing, because in Quebec and Ontario the new education reform tries to make all students ``succeed`` even if they are failing the course or class....and also, ghost finds it very hard because there are not many ``consequences`` which deter students in Canada from aberrant behaviours.....yeah...so the kid gets suspended from school for a few days...guess what...the kid gets to have a free vacation at home for a few days...and then the kid is back in your class basically repeating the same crap....
Students also run to the Principal and make up stories about teachers, and ghost knows teachers in Canada who have lost their jobs because of that.....no proof either way, but the school boards prefer not to have the trouble....one could go on.....
Many times, ghost wishes it did not have to ``teach`` because although it (ghost) has a passion for learning languages, it finds few others share that passion, or at least those that ghost is compelled to ``teach.``

There is absolutely no way that the Supervisor at the Boys 'Model' school "fell apart", because he did not. He remains a very well-adjusted and well-balanced individual, which is why he resigned.
He was betrayed comprehensively by his employers who placed him in an impossible position in an environment not conducive to professional management practices, let alone schoolteaching.
Mauvaise foi for him to have remained: he acted authentically in this Sisyphusian situation. |

I omitted to add that the Supervisor at the Boys 'Model' School was ALSO teaching fulltime!
He didn't have time to go trolling in the shopping malls! |

'He remains a very well-adjusted and well-balanced individual, which is why he resigned. '
Quite. Exactly the case of our much-mourned Director, who was a highly competent, well-informed and humane administrator, who fuly understood the importance of human relations in the work environment. He didn't last long. |
