O.k dmb,you want horror stories,Lets talk about fires in the classroom ,fights between students and teachers ,not the slap and scratch variety,no the real knock em down ,pick em up and do it again sort, broken noses and teeth ,lets talk about sexual assualt of female staff as well as students ,and then there are unsuccessful sucide attempts and sadly the other kind ,I had five years of that ,it was never ,ever boring .İt wasn't quite the gulf war and vietnam rolled into one ,but it was close .

I'll expand on the burning curtain story. When I asked them why they had done it the excuse was that they had dismantled the smoke detector and wanted to see if they had done so properly.

Had they?

Yes, their talents weren't in language learning.

Sorry Ollie I wasn't trying to turn this into some sort of competition nah nah nah nah my students are worse than yours sort of thing. I was only saying in my experience that the worst students I had were kids(17/18 year olds) driving about in 100,000 dollar cars who didn't want to be there but were forced by the Emir to go. So they tried to get themselves expelled by any means. Turkish Kolej kids are pussies compared to them.

the students think that the foreigners are just there for entertainment.

Clowns playing to an audience of fools casting false pearls to real swine.

It's not just foreign EFL teachers that get a custard pie in the eye ... in some places it's TEFL itself ... until quite recently a uni over here wouldn't allow PhD's in the Eng Prep Programme to use 'PhD' or 'Dr' in their title ...

If the word was that bad it would have been beeped, but as you know racism is alive and kicking esp stateside, now if I had called them a word that rhymes with brick or sick or bag that would have been beeped ,wouldn't have it ? But the word wog is ok ,apparently ,at least the N word was not used by yours truly, which refers to African americans thats a no no ,wog on the other hand is a more general term reserved for those who hail from the gulf region .O.k ?

Did Otter's iffy post get pulled ...

Wonder what the MODs would have said in any slap-on-the-wrist reply ...

Dear Mr Otter,

When you applied to join the cafe we understood your words to imply you would bring to the forum the gentle understanding of a man in his 50's, not the eager racial hatred of a man from the 50's.

Neither can we help but notice the irony in the fact that despite voicing a strong dislike of all things football, you often air the opinions of a 'true' Millwall fan.

You are hereby banned from chewing timber for a period of one week.

Please be informed that any repeat incidents will be punishable by a forced viewing of The Dam Busters.

Would a forced viewing of the Dam Busters be considered a punishment? I would have thought it would appeal to Ollie's sensibilities. We all remember the name of Barnes-Wallis' dog, right?

It depends on which is stronger ... his animal instinct for damming .. or his more human urge for damning

About the dog ..

Quote:
In an example of political correctness gone mad, the scenes in The Dam Busters with Guy Gibson's dog *igger had to be cut when the film was shown on ITV in case the use of the word '*igger' should cause offence.

Hmmm... Do otters build dams? Are you sure you aren't confusing otters with beavers?

Though Beaverman Bollie would make a good username and Bollywood Beaverman might make a good Indian porn name.

Nevermind, I made a mistake with the name of the dog's owner.
