But still, they DO have some pretty silly ideas here in Oman. I take it that from the responses so far, most have agreed with me.
Check out www.faithfreedom.org or http://www.memritv.org/ if you want to know some really far-out beliefs held by Muslims. They are quite scary and frightening, like that it is OK to beat your wife, that women ACTUALLY want their husbands to beat them, that the Bulgarian nurses in Libya were a CIA plot, that it is OK to kill someone for your religion, etc,. You will be quite shocked actually if you are a reasonable, rational person, which I am starting to realise, many English teachers are not. |

Check out George W. Bush if you want to know some really far-out beliefs held by Christians. They are quite scary and frightening. |

...But they do believe that Mohammad went to the moon and split it in half |
The Prophet (PBUH) did not split the moon by himself. This is a lie that was made up against the Prophet by some of the Islamphobes. It appears however from many witnesses that were documented in the Islamic references that God Almighty made the moon appear as it was split in half for some of the people who asked the Prophet (PBUH) to show them a miracle. But it is important to know that no where in the Islamic books do we see any mention of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) going up to the moon and splitting it as some of the people mistakenly think.

. It seems that Muslims are very frustrated because deep down they know they are dominated and rely so much on the West (And now the East) for their own progress and they don't unberstand why. |
This is also is not true and nonsense.
The Muslims were dominated by the colonization from the West, and because of some historical circumstances combined with political and other factors (dictatorship, bad management, transitional period from colonized to independence, etc), has caused the Islamic countries to be in the present situation. And the normal Moslems understand why they are in this situation, but because of the above reasons it was difficult for them to progress. |
