Has anyone dealt with these recruiters and are they reliable?

is this a recruiter who has set you up with this school? or is it an agent from the school with whom you are speaking? are you paying for a "recruiting" service?

you should not be paying anyone for recruiting if that is the case!

where have you decided on moving to? which city? if you are moving to a major city, why not look into employment with one of the larger chain schools as they will provide you with a much "softer" landing than, smaller, lesser known chains Surprised

I am leaning towards Tainan, but may end up in Taipei depending on what contracts are being offered at the time. This is the job ad that caught my eye. I am corresponding with other recruiters suggested from this site aswell as ones referred by my school. Just thought I would talk to as many people for contacts before I leave. Heard anything negative about this school?

I would avoid any school that openly discriminates based upon age, gender, or race.

your right it shoudn't be that way. However, most schools also look for a western looking face and not to say they won't hire any other races.

I think that can be ironed out if they like you in person Smile

DD Dragon is a school and recruitment company in one.

Be sure that you are being placed at the school and not at another school through this company. If you are then find out about that actual placement school if possible.

The feedback on them is not very good. Ask them from testimonials from teachers and be sure to contact those teachers. Be aware that there are native speakers involved with the company so you want to avoid just hearing from those guys. I am not sure the best way to do this however. Does anyone have any suggestions here?

My first year in Taiwan I went through three different schools. All three openly discriminate against non-caucasian teachers. Hey, I'm white, so it doesn't effect me, right? WRONG! All three schools screwed me royally.

The moral of the story, and the point of my previous post, is that people who openly discriminate have no morals and, therefore, are very likely to f*ck you over whenever the opportunity arises.
