We have about a foot on the ground in Idaho at the current moment. It's around 10 degrees farenheit and if one more weatherman says that temps in the 20s are mild, I'm going down to the station and smacking them myself. Please tell me that it's warmer in Japan. Two weeks until I get on the plane Smile

It's been raining all day in Osaka. It hasn't looked close to snowing yet. Who can say what the weather will be like in two weeks, it also depends on where you're going in Japan.

Living in the southern part of the country, I have only seen snow for about 3-4 days in 5 years. Quite disappointing.

Snow? What's that?

Osaka occasionally gets a dusting of snow, but it doesn't stick around very long before it melts. I think Osaka in general is a bit warmer than the surrounding areas, perhaps because it's a heat island. The northern suburbs (towards Kawanishi and Takarazuka) are more likely to get snow.

Kyoto is considerably cooler than Osaka during the winter, so there should be snow there.

For the person living in Idaho, Japan is generally considerably warmer than where you are now during the winter, unless you're living in northern or central Hokkaido, I'd imagine. People in Tohoku or on the other side of the mountain range facing the Sea of Japan should see a lot more snow than the folks on the side facing the Pacific Ocean, where most people live.

Nagano has lots. Just came back from a snowboarding trip in Shiga Kogen and it was still coming down while I was there.
