| Gee, Sheik, thanks for the concern about my feelings! But I'm with Yaramaz - I'll gratefully accept whatever holiday greetings I receive. I just don't agree with the OP that Canada should not acknowledge holidays other than Christian ones. |

Just wanted to note for the nth time that our ghost is himself an immigrant to Canada, and so by whinging as he does, he too is in fact one of the aforementioned furriners trying to manipulate the dear traditions of Canadia (whatever they are)

Oh, and also, where I grew up, there was a very large and long established sikh community (about 40% of pop, been there for longer than most other ethnicky groups, well over 100 years) as well as a sizable local first nations who had been there since a few thousand years ago at least. On the west coast, much of the Chinese population has been there since the 1880s. Etc.
Damn these newcomer foreigners who just won't accept that Canada is a white Christian country! When will they learn! |

That is true, but ghost considers itself more of a citizen of the world, rather than one specific nationality, and does not feel special affinity to any one country in particular....and certainly not Canada....and no surprise, in that ghost is a holder of no fewer than three current citizenships and eligible for a couple more......
Where ghost draws the line is when immigrants come to a country, use the services, and then spread bad words about everything.
Recently, for example, an Imam of the local Mosque area where ghost resides, advised all the Muslim boys not to play with non-muslims......essentially showing a narrow mindedness and reverse prejudice totally uncalled for.......One of the local Pakistani shopkeepers told ghost that if Muslim children play with non-muslims, they (the muslim kids) will ``pick up bad habits`` and become ``contaminated`` by un-koranic ways.
In Montreal, Canadian male gynocologists have been assaulted on a frequent basis by the husbands of female muslim patients. And the list goes on, and is never ending.....a sober reality check is needed....before the situation explodes...

Australia, seems to be in the same boat as Canada at the moment. Like Canada, Australia has been a multi-ethnic mix since good old Captain Cook 'discovered' the place back in 1788.
The lastest catch phrase back home is "That is unaustralian". However, l am not sure what the hell that actually means which is odd as l grew up there. |
