Hey, I have a query about teaching english in europe as I plan to go there next year. I have almost completed my graduate diploma in education secondary, which will make me a qualified art high school teacher. I know that this diploma is recognised globally. My query is should I bother doing a CELTA too? or will my graduate diploma suffice for teaching english in europe? I have 2 years experience as an ESL teacher in Japan.
any tips/ideas appreciated.
cheers.

Teaching language is not exactly the same as teaching core subjects (you don't mention what you are qualified to teach at a high school). I would recommend the CELTA, to give yourself a good intro to EFL/ESL theory.

That said, why not investigate openings at international schools instead of teaching English? In case you don't know (sometimes people don't) these are regular high schools in larger cities throughout Europe that cater to the children of expats - teaching core subjects in English. The positions are rarer, but pay well and offer normal benefits.

You are a qualified art teacher, not an English teacher. So if you want to teach English I'd suggest you pursue further education for that subject.
Like spiral said it might be worthwhile for you to check out the international schools in Europe and their job openings.
