If you want to find a nice forum that will answer your question without "sarcasm" then maybe this isn't the place. However, I have had some great answers and it has been very helpful. It is just the few (like everything) that ruin it. |
You know, this kind of post really irritates me. The "great answers" come from contributors (including Canuck and Sallycat) who are donating their time and expertise to help others; it is nobody's job here to help people. In other words, all posters looking for help are coming to this board as strangers asking for assistance--would you walk up to bunch of strangers and ask a favor in this tone?

This is what TOBrian wrote initially (before he wisely edited his post). As he has since made clear, TOBrian has no relevant work experience and no degree (not to mention limited writing skills). Hence, the arrogant tone of his initial post was just a tad ill-advised. Perhaps his reception would have been different if the arrogance had not been there initially?
In general, I've found the tenor of these boards pretty darn polite comparatively (take a look at any thread on Gaijinpot if you don't believe me). Indeed, it's only the arrogant and nasty posters that are treated in kind. And frankly, since none of us are being reimbursed for giving assistance here, putting on airs and whining about poor customer service seems a bit silly.
Happy holidays.... |

Well, japan_01 obviously jaded and unhappy, representing Gaba on this forum. Some people just can't stand the direct, straight, no BS answers. |

I am not an unhappy, jaded individual. Where did you PULL that one from? It must have been another one of my mean, sarcastic remarks that I wrote? Maybe you can find it for me because I can't. I don't EXPECT anyone to provide me with answers. I hope that a person may answer my question to the best of their ability without the sarcasm. |

This is to all who had a problem with my original post. I admit, my choice of words was poor. I suppose I wrote partly out of frustration. I had no attention of sounding arrogant or insolent(so apologies).

Cool. Do you have any specific questions now? Having done a search on the forum, I assume, do you want any more information? |

|

I was curious if there is anybody who may be able to tell me whether having a WHV will affect the decision of potential employers? I understand that there is a lower number number of weekly hours allowed with a WHV. But will it be a challenge to attain two part time jobs in order to acheive full time hours? Or better yet, is the a way around the hour cap in order to get a full time job? Thanks to all who may have some knowledge on the matter.

There are no hourly limits. There once was, and for some reason some misguided individuals continue to insist that there still is an weekly hour limit.
If you're serious, I'd suggest checking with the Japanese embassy. |

I remember it was capped at 20 hours a week. However, bigger companies only followed this rule. Smaller eikaiwas didn't, for the most part. The rules might have changed. The spirit of the working holiday visa is to work and travel. For more information, search the forum. |

Well Guys,
It seems that even with my lack of a Bachelors hinderance, I managed to get an interview with Nova. I suppose a little persistance goes a long way. I guess I'll have to wait and see if they mention any kind of hour cap. Although most seem pretty sure that it is a thing of the past. I have read alot of your posts for other people interviewing with Nova. But if anybody has any "specific" ideas for me to mention to them in the process, please let me know. Thank you to all of you who take the time in here.
...Peace and good luck in the new year.

I'm glad to see that you've toned down from your previous "way beyond qualified" posts. I remind you of this because you don't want to bring any sort of that attitude into your Nova interview. Nova may have a bad rap here and on other message boards, but applicants with your qualifications and experience are a dime a dozen. Go in there as an happy, flexible eager-to-please type of guy, and you'll be ok. Good luck on the interview! |

I have done a search of the forum and read up on all I can for the NOVA interview process. I think I have a decent handle on what is required and the attitude best suited for the process. However, I was just curious if anybody may have some simple tips that you may have found useful when going through the process yourself. As well, because I am travelling with a WHV, I wonder if they will insist on me going by the "flexi-schedule" for my year long contract? I realize this will be covered in the interview. But I thought I would get the jump on things.
...thank you for the time.
