hi guys,

i was teaching in saigon for a few months last year and left because of the SITC teacher glut and low number of working hours.

i'd like to come back now but i can't figure what the situation is now re work permits, pay, job availability, etc. because of a lack of posts about these things that are recent.

somebody please bring me up-to-date.

what's the situation now.

thanks very much

As you know SITC stole both foreign and local teachers money, and flew the coup right before Tet.

It's only my opinion but I think many others will agree.

It's hard to get hours at only 1 school unless you want to go to a language factory and get pushed around.

The work permit situation changes all the time.

Get every piece of paperwork you can and be prepared to get it done long distance, including notarization.

Not sure where Blade's at, but the situation in Hanoi is still pretty relaxed, for the most part. I'm sure the work permit situation will rear its ugly head again in the near future, but, at present, it's possible to work somewhere where you can get hours and pretty good pay w/o having one.
