I'm leaving this place (hooray) in Feb and going directly to Madrid. I need to change my RMB into Euros and wonder if the 'black market' will do this or do they only deal with dollars?
With the present low dollar rate I can't really consider a 3 way swap. I get my last salary 3 days before I go and my school say they need at least a week to do it!!!!!

P.S I'm in Wuhan so if anyone close has Euros they want to change to RMB I'm game!!! Cheers

Dollars? What dollars? I buy HK dollars at virtual parity now - not on the black market but in Macau or HIK.

As for euros, I have euro 1240 - was a good acquisition in its time but I wouldn't do it again. I guess 1240 isn't nearly enough for your yuan?

I'm looking for Euros, NOT ANY dollars whether HK, US or Martian!!!!
For clarity I was referring to US dollars not being wanted as I'm going to Spain and the EURO aginst the RMB is a better rate anyway (and is the official currency!!!!!

You posted your query in the wrong forum, mate; I was looking for your thread this morning and finally posted a tentative reply in a new thread on the Off Job forum.
The gist of my reply is this: at Guangzhou Airport I accidentally stumbled upon an informal moneychanger in the form of a service counter in the Departure Hall. They were able to convert yuan into euros (my relative bought 2oo euros prior to her departure). The exchange rate was quite reasonable (I think it was the official one).

It has to be said, though, that at the time my relative changed back her yuan into euros the nearby moneychanger was closed (opening 45 minutes later). However, the transaction occurred without any formalities being observed - not even passport inspection! Anyone could go up there and buy euros, HK dollars or U.S. American dollars. It remains to be tested whether they do such business in competition with the moneychanger! And: whether they can sell you bigger amounts!
