Screwed - no. Limited - yes. Bring a couple pairs one dress pair, one casual to tide you over. If you need any specialist shoes for things like sport, hiking etc also bring a pair. You will find shoes in that size but it may take awhile and your options will be limited

Wouldn't that depend on whether Neongene is male or female? I wear a size 11 women's (I'm 5' 9") and I have never seen a pair of women's shoes that big in Taiwan or Japan. (I didn't spend much time searching in Japan, but whenever I passed by a shoe display that had large-looking shoes, I checked... In Taiwan, I had to get the largest pair of men's New Balances I could find. The "foreigner's ghetto" shops had some big women's shoes, but they weren't brands or styles I'd ever wear. Presumably there's more variety in Tokyo's foreigner-oriented shops, but ...)

Oh, well then, you'll have better luck than I will, at least in terms of shoes. *G*

I don't know about sucker, Imelda, but in terms of basic necessity you'll only need 2-3. Unless you wear above average size shoes will finding shoes be an obstacle.

Here's my take on shoes... I don't think you should worry that much. You should not bring so many. I remember seeing 2 shoe stores entitled for people with sizes higher than 11-12... One was located downtown Shinjuku on Yasukuni Dori (the main street that leads to Kabukicho). If you wanna go to it, from Shinjuku Station, just walks toward Meiji-dori. Go straight and passed Meiji-dori, you should see it on the left.

As for mp3s and porn, people should not be afraid. They never ever asked to see my laptop nor external drive. I mean, security could look for it to see if you carry a bomb upon boarding, but customs are probably not even gonna notice you have a laptop. They'd need to look at your luggages, but what do they really care? They never searched me.

bring your favorite food!!!!!! We have been in Japan for a week and are dying for real sweets and good ol american food...bring as much of stuff as you can fit in your suitcase...that is what we have found. We are very glad that we loaded up on the nessessicites (sp?) of life and dont have to buy them very expensively.

we are in ashikaga in tochigi (sp?) prefecture. We really like it here but are trying to adjust to the really cold weather and the fact that we dont have a car here. BUt the school is awesome and we couldnt have chosen better...it is very small and very personal..and that is good. We are just missing american food at this moment...lol.
