Same answer as Guy.
Why isn't there a $8,000 US+ option? |

I'm in debt starting a business and my soon-to-be-ex-wife is going to take me to the cleaners. Where are the negative numbers? |

I think your poll is scaled wrong: it should look more like this...
$0 - $100?
$100 - $200?
$200 - $300?
$300 - $400?
$400 - $500?
More than $500? |

How much you make doesn-t mean too much, it-s how much you make vs. cost of living. |

I answered, but really when we all live in different countries, like others have already said, what's the point? |

Okay, okay, I'll answer.
I'm giving the OP the benefit of the doubt, and assuming he has some reason for wanting this comparison in US dollars. What really matters is:
I earn nearly 9 times what I pay in rent each month.
I earn 5 times the national average.
I earn 30 times the locally accepted definition of the poverty level.
My monthly salary would buy 1300 beers at local prices. (to drink at home)
or maybe 750 at bar prices. (maybe 650, maybe 500, depending on your bar of choice.)
Or 45 dinners in nice-ish restaurants.
Or tuition on as many (local) grad school courses as I could ever have time to take.
I earn enough to live the way I want to live, and have enough left over for rainy days.
Compared to my friends in the US or Europe, I earn jack sht.
Best,
Justin |

Beer...what a universal measure. I note, Justin, that you are earning more beers than I, but I think I have you beat on dinners-out. |

Ahh, Guy, but Mexican beers are 10 times nicer than the Ecuadorian stuff.

Interesting how price ratios aren't constant from country to country.
But maybe it's me- I'm not especially picky about where I drink, but believe in dining well.
In my life, one tasty dinner out is worth about 24 beers in the supermarket, 15 beers in a cheap bar, or 8 beers is a posh bar.
Best,
Justin
PS- Mexican beer has never been my fave, but Ecuadorian beer isn't anything to write home about... |
