Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't understand why there are CHina jobs advertised both in the China Job BOard and the International Job Board (like, several).

Are we supposed to read both boards for China jobs?

Or are the China jobs on the International board supposed to only be the Taiwan (China) jobs and not the Mainland China jobs?

Pardon me if this was brought up before, but I couldn't see anything elsewhere.

Ah...the China or Taiwan question.

A topic which every EFL teacher in that part of the world will be dragged into time and again...regardless of whether they wish to be so or not. Confused

Simple:

Taiwan every time! Better wages, pro-Western, incredibly beautiful countryside. Savings in the area of US$800-1200 month without too much effort.

Uh, yeah, read both.

I spent two years in Taiwan - and LOVED it!

I preferred China, because it was non-Western.

Alright, I need to rephrase the question:

What is the purpose of having a China Jobs Board if we still get jobs for BOTH Mainland China and Taiwan (China) posting on the International Jobs Board?

I would love to hear the view of a moderator on this subject.

Advertisers may post ads where they wish.

Sensible advertisers post job-ads where they are most likely to reach their target audience.

Some people considering working in China or in any of its autonomous or semi-autonomous provinces will look for jobs on the China board. Others, who may perhaps be considering destinations in China, or one or more of its autonomous or semi-autonomous provinces, as just some amongst many possible destinations, are more likely to browse the international board. Advertisers can use either. There is no need to call for moderator assistance. Just browse both boards if you are thinking of working in China.

I take it that you have never worked in Asia?

Since when does a Chinese businessperson give a damn about the rules, here on Dave's or elsewhere? Twisted Evil

I inquired as there is no Boolean search function for jobs advertised here; some people may NOT want to wade through two or three dozen postings for countries with high demand (such as Japan, Korea or China)

For example, people willing to consider ESL straight out of University may be turned off by the low wages (relative to their student debts) in China and not see the jobs posted for ESL in North America, the Middle East and some parts of Europe.

I know at least one employer who pays very well and doesn't care if you have 5 years' experience, for example. But you must be 100% fluent in Pashto. Should the huge multinational decide to advertise on Dave's, it would be competing with all of the China postings.

This discussion has convinced me that the jobs aren't sorted by location. Thank you for your input.

If some people, straight out of university or otherwise, would be put off from choosing the high-paid luxury lifestyle on offer in the EFL world as they are incapable of realising that Chinese wages might not be the highest of the high in our high flying world then i suggest that they are too stupid and/or not determined enough to be teachers anyway.

As for the frankly libelous suggestion that some Chinese businessmen might have develped a somewhat cavalier attitude vis-a-vis the rules, protocols and guidelines of trading and/or posting:

Shame on you!

Next thing you will be claiming that some of those $1.00 latest release DVDthingies may have originated form outside of the very belly and bowels of good ole Uncle Sam.
