Okay, so I troll this place often enough but aside from passing references to Tokyo (Japan's official centre of the world) I don't see many people actually come out and say where they live. In the spirit of hopefully helping people meet like minded and friendly foreigners in their area why don't we all post whereabouts we are living. And please no one say "Japan" as I find that particularly useless in people's profile.
I live in Hikone, Shiga. About 45 minutes north-east of Kyoto and an hour and a half from either Osaka or Nagoya. Nice little city on the edge of Lake Biwa. We gots ourselves a castle and a starbucks and a nice lil selection of bars and shops |

Nagano City, Nagano prefecture. Near Zenkoji temple, for those who know the city. |

I was in Shiga a couple years ago at a CALL conference, Kusatsu I believe.
I live in Takamatsu, Kagawa, on Shikoku. It's just south of Okayama over the bridge. Smallish city, but it has 4 Starbucks. |

We live in Niiza; southern Saitama, on the border with Tokyo. Anyone interested in hitting some balls, kicking asphalt or sharing job leads? |

Izumo, Shimane.
Very quiet little city, but I really enjoy it here now. |

I live in the crusty, dirty Naniwa ward of Osaka. It has lots of personality (and homeless people). |

Joto ward, Osaka. Next to the castle. It's very boring, but only 15 minutes away from Umeda and not much further to Namba and Shinsaibashi. I don't know or care how many Starbucks Osaka has. |

I too am a resident of the beautiful Naniwa ward. Daikokucho to be more precise. Get good milage out of it, if only to have students tell me how dangerous the area is. Oh, it makes me laugh. |

Northern Manhattan, New York City
But I occasionally kick it in the West and East Villages of Lower Manhattan. The East Village, in particular, is a neighborhood where a lot of Japanese hang out. Went to a Japanese toy store there a few weeks ago. Lots of Japanese restaurants, but those are all over the City... |

In the middle of Osaka, a stone's throw from Nippombashi and the Bunraku Theater. |
