I know my wife and I have only been here in China for 2 months, but we were wondering is it normal practice for your employer here in China to give you a letter/reference/ whatever they call it, at the end of your contract to prove you have worked at their insitution for a year? This, we think, may be needed when applying for another position elsewhere. Anybody throw any light on this subject?

Oh yes, mate, they come in handy, these little slips that one is apt to mislay or throw away, but I do advise you to keep them!
A letter of reference, or a letter of release, or a letter of recommendation, is ever more often a prerequisite for getting a new contract!
This time, I have had to supply two letters not of Release but of RECOMMENDATION!
But, can you take it for granted the school will write them?
NOt at all!
You must insist, beg for it, force them, whatever! Perhaps you must write it yourself and simply ask them to put their name and seal on the paper! |
