|

The typical advice for job hunters in Costa Rica seems to be: "Show up with a stack of resumes and start handing them out." I would love to arrive in CR prepared to do just that, except I don't know what my address or phone number will be when I arrive. And a resume without contact information doesn't seem like a very useful resume at all.
I do plan on having a laptop, but not a printer. And I understand there are plenty of Internet cafes in San Jose. But are there reasonable printing / copying services available? How have others handled this?
I'm sure there's a simple solution and I'm making too big of an issue out of a minor task. I just like to be prepared. |

Hi, I'm living in San Pedro near the university. It seems like everyone with space in their house has a photocopy shop.
There's one place called "Soda y Fotocopias."
Where I went the paper and print quality wasn't quite as high as if I did it at home but it'll do fine...
You could always leave a spac on your resume and write in contact details when you know where you'll be. |

A response from someone else who taught in Costa Rica: "Most of the hiring process is based on your interview, credentials, and some monitored teaching. I didn't even have a resum with me."
I suppose that would depend on the type of school, but I wonder what the hiring experience was like for others. |

Hiring may be based on interview and monitored teaching or "mock lessons" but you DEFINITELY need a resume to hand out or send out via email just to get your name out there and foot in the door. I would not take the "no resume needed" advice.
