| Hello. I'm currently teaching in Hyogo prefecture in Japan. My contract is up in March and I've decided to switch jobs. I have an interview with Seiha English Network and what little I could find about them on the internet, none of it seemed to be good. I'm not hard up for a job so I can afford to be cautious, but it's too bad. When I started thinking about teaching in Japan, I had the impression that it would be a pretty good job opportunity. Turns out I can't seem to trust any company that I apply to. If anybody has any information good or bad I'd appreciate it. Thanks! |

| hmmmm. i had a friend who worked for them. from what she said they were somewhat exploitative -- tended to employ people who didn't have english as a first language as english teachers, and exploit the fact that they were employing people who would have trouble getting jobs elsewhere. they didn't seem horrendous or anything, but she did a lot of travelling to obscure places for very short working hours. so -- lots of hours away from home, but not much money out of it. this is all secondhand though. |

Just saying; they're prolly one of the worst companies to work for. Not that i would know 
I am surprised by how little info there is on such a big company(over 300 schools). |

Lately, I've seen reports from a few people who seemed to have chosen the worst of the worst in their job hunts to look into. Yup, that sort of bad luck would tend to make people think that all employers here are untrustworthy. However, you have to realize a few things.
[list=]People will complain online far more than they will praise an employer.
Many employers have their faults, and if you are looking for the perfect one, reconsider.
There may be certain groups of employers to avoid. IMO, dispatch companies are the biggest (and most widely known) to put in this category.
Forums like this are available to help job hunters figure out whether negative claims are all that common or current. So, if you have names of other places in doubt, post them and ask.[/list] |

Problem is that even big companies can have bad branches, so the complaining can actually be justified.
Other problem is that mid to small sized places have almost no criq about them on the net. So you can't know either way. |

| I've heard conflicting things about Seiha, some good and some bad. I did know one guy who was promised a job with them, was relying them for his visa, but they ended up withdrawing the offer for whatever reason, completely screwing him over and forcing him to return to the States. |

What have you heard that's good?
Pretty much all the Japanese and Gaijin teachers are unhappy about the working conditions. Haven' met a person who actually like the company. That's including some people who are fairly high up.
Not to mention the 8 days off a month, no holidays, and spiteful management(the newsletters are super negative.). |
