| It's not that easy in my area. Each State is different. We have to attend a classroom lecture, written and driving tests, eye test, blood test (the blood type goes on the front of the license) and if you are a foreigner you have to have an FM3 for a full year before applying. I guess that rule is to prevent snowbirds (winter tourists) from applying for a DL for a souvenirs maybe. That would really clog up the system. Where do you live Danielita? |

Samantha,
I live in Southern Oaxaca where they don't get too many tourists. I was pretty shocked myself because I know that it was more work for MamaOaxaca/Melee and she lives in the Northern half of the state. I think that this was probably the first request that they have ever had from a foreigner so they just gave me what I asked for! Interestingly enough, after I got my license, I found out that it is illegal to pass on a tope! Everyone in this neck of the state does it. Who knew? Perhaps they should have offered those classroom lectures you speak of....

| Here in the DF and Mexico state it's as easy as apple pie. It's one of the achievements of the local and state governments. I have seen posters in the Metro which promote the AMLO/Encinas administrations making it much easier to get a DL. Mexico state probably followed suite, I'm not sure. |

In DF at least, check out the Tesorora offices in Mega supermarket. Easy-Peasy! Took me about 20 minutes - only documents needed are ID and proof of address.
There are offices in Mega in Miguel Angel de Quevedo and Tlatalolco, elsewhere I don't know. |
