It is quite common for large companies to insist on identification cards being used. The RC at Jubail was quite strict over this for some time after somebody got into the maternity ward at Fanateer hospital and tried to rape one of the patients. |

It is not such a bad idea. I had to wear one long ago in the Fast East and I got used to it. At least everyone could tell my name by looking at the badge.
In the Emirates it might be useful as a way to differentiate the National employees from the young scholars. It can be quite embarassing to reprimand someone for doing something like entering your classroom unannounced and then finding out she is in fact one of your co-workers. Theefore I would gladly wear one if the National staff had to as well. (Obviously it is not wise to scold any colleague though sometimes students need it.) |

Doesn't sound so much like a dress code as a uniform! If folk were a little more observant as to what country they were in they wouldn't need a dress code - learn a tiny bit about the local culture and you know that short skirts or jeans are not appropriate for work.
Badges? I wore a badge ages ago in China but it just identified me as teaching staff in a particular institution. Very handy for pointing out that I wasn't a tourist. I have a badge now which I tend to carry in my bag, but it's useful for getting discounts in hotels! |
