...with your spelling and grammar, you should thank your lucky stars that you work anywhere...and i'm not saying that to be rude (although it looks that way)...i'm just being honest.

...on another note, i always thought she was quite good at her job. she has been there for a long time now and it continues to be a successful school ( from what i hear) ........so she must still be doing something right

ILP Pluit is advertising on jobsdb.com - with an age limit of 23-40 years and no need for a TEFL certificate. Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

That's the way I typed it, its not a typo. Cant say much about her skills only that she made people feel uncomfortable and the classes were not set up very well at that time. Now the aus girl is another story, but no need to go into that.

Posts have always been removed about ILP.... ever since I posted about my experiences there 3 years ago, maybe before.
Drgonzo, Chester, happy_me, and it sounds like Rowlf the Dog all worked at ILP at about the same time... we all have similar opinions about the place and to sum it up - just don't work there Razz.

When I did time at ILP Corporate, I definitely learned the three commands that every dog (even piano playing dogs such as myself) need to know: Sit....Stay...Fill in your time sheet...

In all honesty, I have no idea if things have improved over there or not. I had worked in a different franchised ESL school prior to moving on to ILP Corporate, and I found myself feeling guilty for how much more money I was making juxtaposed with how little work was expected of me. Those were odd times that I'm strangely glad I went through because I think that they built character.

Since some of the characters have up and moved on, it very well could be a better place to work now. This was four years ago. Surely the management could have done some self-reflection. I don't think there would be any harm done in applying and seeing for yourself if things are any different.

The glass, my friends, is half-full.

That's a good puppy... to take the optimistic view-point. I am not sure how much better it would be though, since they presumably still have the same owner and useless spoiled owner's son (who isn't a bad guy, per se, just useless).
The office hours do make sense theoretically from the owner's view point. Without them most of us would have been working about 6 to 8 contact hours a week for our 11 juta a month. With the office hours included we ended up doing 30 to 40 hours.... but 30 to 40 hours of f**k all. On paper it looks like the owner is getting more value for his money with the office hours.

This was the only job I've ever had in my life where going to work felt like having after-school detention-- Sit in a room, do nothing, gaze at your navel, and leave.

Luckily we didn't have to write "I love working for ILP" 100 times on the board every day.

I don't know what value the owner got from having us sit there and do nothing. I could only see value if there were hidden cameras in the room for some sick and twisted Indonesian reality show about bules (which I have to admit would have been pretty entertaining, given the cast of characters). As boring as it was, there was always something to talk about.

Dr. Gonzo, how is Camilla the chicken?
And what is the true identity of happy_me...I just can't figure it out...

Camilla the chicken? I don't have a clue what you are on about with this one....
Happy_me mostly worked downstairs with the regular classes, but sometimes he helped out in corporate, or so I believe. I can't tell you his real name because he asked me not to use names here. Besides... I can't figure who you are... I have choices of about 4 or 5... but I don't think you are DH or CN...

Dr. Gonzo--

Are you telling me that you are not, in fact, impersonating the Great Gonzo from the Muppet Show? Camilla the chicken is Gonzo's love interest, you'll recall (even if you don't admit knowing it-- and you know you know it)...I thought you were on to something-- like everyone who has ever worked in Indonesia should write in the identity of their favorite Muppet. I'm Rowlf the Dog, and I've marked my territory. (Get it?)

Does my dorkiness give you insight as to my identity? If not, I'll send more hints in future posts.

You're right, I'm not DH or CN. I do hope that DH is doing well and that his company is providing healthy competition for ILP Corporate. I don't wish ILP anything bad-- but I do hope that the competition will cause them to reconsider some of their business practices. Competition, after all, is good for everyone-- especially the consumers (i.e. the students listening to short dialogues with saucy and uppity British actors in the Business Basics series...brings back memories...) Spoken like a good capitalistic dog, eh?

No Rowlf, I don't actually know the muppets. I grew up with only 3 channels.... CTV, CityTV, and Global... if you know what I mean.
Dr Gonzo comes from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (the book, not the movie)...
In the book Dr. Gonzo is their pseudonym when they hire rooms, cars, etc... a fake name to throw out. In the movie, Benico Del Tores is supposed to be Dr. Gonzo... but he's not, that's just a pseudonym.
I still don't know you are... maybe S from Kbec.... or that other Yank... could be A from Auz
