Let me explain, first. . . I've only dabbled in TESL but as a (end=failure) PhD student I received L2 training with those who would be teaching a variety of languages, in addition to extended ped. training in the language that I taught (Russian) pretty well if you believe my student and supervisor evaluations over the years.

I am *obviously* not looking to get rich, I'm looking to return to the city I love and friends of over 10 years now. But I simply do NOT have the bank to lay down for CELTA or (what's the name of that other one?) training/cert. And obviously I cannot get an invite valid for a visa of any length of real time w/out an institutional connection.

I don't mind commuting- I wouldn't even dream of finding a flat/share less with/in 1 hour of the center- but I DO mind 80 hour workweeks, which is part of why gradschool didn't work out.

I love teaching language, and I'm good at it. Doesn't my experience count for anything? Any recc's?
