Did anyone else hear about PMU in KSA sending an American teacher home ? The story that I heard was that in class she was critical of Islam. From the classroom she was taken to Bahrain and put on a plane.
I heard that another one was asked to leave for being a bit too.................eh................'flamboyant'. |

| The bit about being hauled out of the classroom and put on a plane might be an exaggeration, but the story as a whole sounds plausible to me. To be honest, given the 'inappropriate' behaviour of some teachers in KSA, I'm sometimes surprised things like this don't happen more often. |

I think there are quiet a few teachers here that could stand to be deported and I really wonder why they haven't been. I get tired of these people who come here on a mission, a mission to save all the "poor oppressed women." I don't know one Saudi Woman, those of the upper class, who would trade their life for mine. Yes, they do have to wear abaya and they can't drive. Do you think they care? No they don't! They don't have to look for parking; they are dropped off at the front door! They don't clean their homes, cook or look after their own children. They travel and have the best of everything.
I have heard Islam criticized by some teachers as being rigid and oppressive, and as a result, the students or all of the society do not have any critical thinking skill. If teachers really think that they are coming here on a mission to convert or enlighten the masses, they have a very large job ahead of them, especially in the light of the fact that they don't want to be converted or enlightened by western ideas. Come on there are about 1 billion Muslims in the world!
Teachers need a thorough cultural orientation when they come and I don't mean a white-washed version. |

That did cross my mind dmb. But on what grounds could I be deported? Sadly, there are none. I�m a model citizen as far as the CPVPV is concerned.
You can't get deported for using the letter X can you? That would be harsh.

Come on Scot47, where did you get your story? Is your source reliable?
If you have been so long in Saudi, you should know that if your story was true, then the way to deport a teacher (in case if he/she committed a big unforgettable mistakes), is not by taking him/her directly from classroom to Bahrain, and why Bahrain? There are plenty of airports in Saudi Arabia? Why they did not put her in plane from a Saudi airport. And really if the story was true, there would have been an investigation, and if the teacher was caught acting against the Saudi Law, then he will have at least 2 weeks to arrange for his exit visa, plus other administrative work.
So, I think the story is a exaggerated!!!
Some year ago, I knew of a medical doctor, who was accused of selling some kind of drugs secretly to Saudis, but when he was caught and investigated, his contract was stopped, and was given two weeks to finalize his visa and paper work, then was send to the airport for travel to his country. And, you know, in SA, the crime of dealing with drugs is more severe in punishment than if you are critical of Islam, and in this case they did not take him from his work to Bahrain! |

Reliable source 007. What surprised me was the detail of being deported to Bahrain.
I have been around Saudi for a long time Mr Digit. A lot longer than you ! |

Though I am by no means engaged upon the curious "mission" described, I felt bound to indicate the passing from a remark about the most wealthy sector of the population into a proposed universal truth. I have little doubt the contributor will now advance a plethora of reasons why the lowliest Saudi handmaiden is infinitely better placed than the Queen of England herself, and full of the highest bliss in comparison with Nancy Pelosi. I believe the contributor might be reminded that neither scarlet nor black (especially under 40+ degrees of heat) is the only true shade in ladies apparel and bid her seek (not "sick!") if there be a metaphor within that statement. |
