Hi there,
I am still an undergraduate, but am looking at a move to Hong Kong as an NET. I am still looking for a TEFL /TESL provider. I would like to know if there's one in Hong Kong that provides it online.
My rationale is that if I did it with a Hong Kong provider, they should be more inclined towards accepting it. Does anyone have any recommendations? |

If it is online, then how can the provider be considered to be in HK? |

I'm not being funny really, I'm not but how can an on-line TEFL course (which, if based anywhere, is based in cyberspace) ever be considered to be a 'quality' TEFL course, or even a 'course'? I don't think anyone in HK accepts an on-line anything, especially not something which is supposed to give pre-service classroom experience and training.
My advice would be to save any money you would otherwise spend on an on-line TEFL certificate, as it would simply be throwing good money after bad, and put it towards a proper qualification.
As regards a proper TEFL certificate, The British Council in HK used to offer the CELTA, but they ceased to do so a few years ago. Try English for Asia at the URL below, they offer the Trinity CertTESOL here in HK at a reasonable fee:

You would have to have a study visa, though as they dont accept tourist visas:

Also, I don't wish to sound negative, but I don't fancy your chances of securing any legitimate employment within the educational field in HK as a fresh graduate. |

I agree Celta or Trinity are the courses to do if you are serious about teaching English. |

I won't be applying yet. I am planning to do it in future. Just didn't wanna waste my time while gaining teaching experience. Thanks |
