There is a thread on the price of tortillas, but what is your favorite way to eat them, or in what form. As those who have been is Mexico a long time know, that could include Tacos, flautas, quesadillas, sincronizadas, tlayudas, huaraches, tlacoyos etc. (or with humus, like Guy!! )
Personally,
Wheat tortillas - a sandwich style sincronizado i.e. Tortilla - ham - cheese- tortilla (+ salsa taquera)
Corn tortillas - stuffed with barbacoa or carnitas |

Mostly, they're just part of almost every meal. They replace bread and function as silverware. Going out to eat late at night here, tacos al pastor. |

Actually, I think this question is a lot harder for those of us who have been here a long time and are fairly integrated into local life because my first response is:
huh?
Put them in your mouth and chew.
In my house they are either used as the spoons to scoop up and eat the main dish/beans/rice. or simply rolled up tightly and dipped in to the brothy/saucy part of the meal.
I personally love crunchy foods, so I love tostadas, tacos dorados(flautas to you norteos) and empanadas. |

The great thing about chilaquiles is that alchemic thing that happens when the whole mash of it is simmering in the skillet. I've made them rojos, verdes, with mole, with chipotle, with pumpkin mash, and with all sorts of greens thrown in. A vegetarian's delight! |

Ok I don't think we had chilaquiles properly or something cause the texture was disgusting.
Fave way though is burritos with frijoles y chilorio and whatever else you like, don't forget the salsa and cream and roll em up. so yummy I like them with lechuga as well, adds some crunchy freshness.
I love the tostadas as well. |

You take a small stack of corn tortiallas, cut 'em into smallish strips and fry them. Then add a few eggs and scramble the whole thing until cooked.
Thems good eatin'

Im a fan of (the norteo version with beef, not chicken) tortilla soup. Basically its a beef stock with tomato, onion, thyme and something else (I dont have my recipe with me). Like Ajarn.. you cut corn tortillas into strips but in my version, instead of frying them, I just toast them to a crisp.... Put the crisp strips into the soup just before eating.
Im sure a veggie version of this would work quite well too, maybe with setas for the broth base?
Theyre not tortillas but here they sell a type of "gorditas" de nata... that are about the shape and size of English muffins and split similarly. But they are slightly sweet. I like these toasted with peanut butter but some of my students think that is a sacriledge. |

Around here they often combine, sopa de tortilla with sopa de frijo, a cream of black bean soup with the fried, or tosted (or simply dried out) tortilla strips on top. And the Sopa Azteca around here is essentially veggie, as in there isn't any real meat pieces in it, but I'm sure a cube of Chicken stock goes into the making.
The secret for Chilaquiles is that the tortillas must be at least a week old. We have a special bag that each day any left over tortillas get tossed into, one of those woven plastic shopping bags. Then when the bag is full, they get quick fried and then broken up and then made into Chilaquiles.
As for something Mexicans wouldn't think of, how about simply not eating them for a day! |

Confession time: sometimes we buy the flour tortillas, but when you smother them with nutella and bananas and just warm it up in the microwave for a bit, it is tiny taste of heaven!! |
