I worked for Interac, too.
They never pulled any funny stuff on me and were quite helpful on a couple of occasions.
I'm not saying they're a bunch of saints; it was just a good entry-level job for me. |

| My experience with Interac is also a positive one thus far. Even as an experienced teacher it has been hard to get a high quality job in Japan so ALT work through the dispatch company suits me fine. It's interesting to observe the Japanese public schools, some teachers are really quite good and it's nice to see the different things they do in their classrooms. Others are not so good but then bite your lip and say "I work for the company and the school is our client" and read the textbook and allow the students to repeat- keeping in mind you're NOT the teacher but someone there to provide English lessons which means you DON'T discipline, deal with parents or BOE paperwork. Kids on the whole are excited to have the foreign "sensei" at the school for the day- and generally ALT's rotate to different schools so it's still a novelty for the students to work with the ALT and even for the ALT to work with the students. Hours are good, preparation is limited, pay isn't great but it's about average. It seems that pay for young Japanese professionals sucks, too. |

Yes, the pay for entry teachers is 'similar' to Interac pay, but two important differences. The Japanese teachers get bonuses. We don't. We get 'deductions' in August and December, the Japanese teachers don't.
Some of them assume we make big bucks, but it isn't the case. |

Don't work for Interac if you can avoid it.
Very low pay for a draining job. |
