Hi, I'm considering relocating to the Czech Rep. and wondering if it's common for language schools to hire teachers part-time (for example morning or evening classes only).

Also, I wanted to find out whether the benefits most schools offer, including public transportation passes and health insurance are available to part-timers.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. What's the latest on which language school in Prague pays the most? Last time I checked the boards, it was St. James.

Part-time employment is very common. What benefits you get depends entirely on your negotiation skills. I wouldn't expect a company car in any case, though Laughing

Many teachers work for several schools. After a couple of months you can balance a schedule that will suit you but it is liable to short notice change. Typically, cancellations or rescheduling can take away 10% of your weeks lessons so if your being paid by the hour - take on a heavier workload than you actually want just in case. Also, be prepare to leave your house early and get back late. But you can make some money that way.
