Dear scot47,
Ah, my fellow friend of Bill, may I humbly suggest just a tad more compassion for those who still may have a tendency occasionally to overindulge in Demon Rum ( generically speaking ). Personally, I know that when I look back, I can recall all too many occasions when the booze helped me to do/say things that were, shall we say, less than wise. Does that have a familiar ring to it, perchance?
Regards,
John |

Dear scot47,
Welcome to the long list of very annoyed people - I seem to add new ones every day. But " always right "? Lord, I hope not. What a terrible curse to wish upon anyone. Any poor soul who was always right would never learn anything new. But I don't think I have to worry. At last count I was making an average of 14 mistakes a day. And, what's really scary is - the more I think I understand, the more that shows me how very little I really know. Yikes - at this rate I'll wind up completely ignorant in about 4 more years.
Regards,
John |

| Yes. I can see that ALWAYS being right would be a bit like the curse of King Midas. We have an idea here for a movie ! |

Dearscot47,
Could be - there have certainly been a lot of movies based of a far worse premise. But Cassandra had a similar problem - although hers was with regard only to future events. Hey, there's a title: Mr. Cassandra.

Ramadan has really gotten to be too commerical. For example, remember when Ramadan lights didn't go up until mid-Sha'aban? Now we see them around town as early as Rajab!
And the lights should come down the first week of Shawwal, but I've seen them still up and blazing away as late as Dhul Qa'da. Tacky.

Dear ohman,
Consider yourself fatwahed. A hit squad of scraggly-bearded mataween will be paying you a visit shortly ( Well, look on the bright side; it could be worse - Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses, for example ). How dare you suggest that the Holy Month has become crassly commercial and downright capitalistically secular! Some things are sacred, you know.
Regards,
John ( part-time matawa ) |

Only if you can write a book real quick--with an improbable intro involving falling to earth, while chatting with someone--& your last name is Rushdie. |

J-Pop,
Rushdie's premise in THAT book was that the Prophet (pbuh) was motivated by profit. If you skip past the Bollywood actor parts and other framing devices, THAT book actually is not a bad piece of historical fiction.
Now, I'm really effed (as in fatwah). |
