hello all,


I am currently studying educational administration/leadership with a minor in tefl. I would like to travel the world using this degree and possibly settle in the gulf. I was wondering if there was any way to find a job in this field here in these parts?

While I have no idea what the academic discipline of educational administration/leadership might be, if you want a job as a department head in this - or any - part of the world, you will need relevant experience, not just a degree.

Almost all the cushy jobs (with desk, pc, tea boy and no contact with the shebab) where I work have been taken by Saudis. It's part of the Saudization process, reducing Saudi unemployment. The unpleasant jobs like teaching are still largely open to us but this is also likely to change in the near future.

Don't let this put you off though. It's just one aspect. There might still be opportunities somewhere in the Gulf and even in Saudi if you've got what they need. Check out this company in Riyadh: http://www.sdt.com.sa/english/default.asp

Educational Administration and Leadership? Ha! Sounds like a tough major. Even tougher than ESL. Exactly the kind of thing that will impress the Arab bureaucrats. I'd say you are well on your way to joining the ranks of the powerful but incompetent.
