Now back in the day I did the occasionaly bit of translation work. Nothing big but sometimes stuff would just come my way. Back in Berlin I knew this chick who really lucked out. She was making 1000 euros sometimes for a translation gig and my German was better than hers. Anyone have any experience getting into the translation scene and actually making money off of it to supplement their incomes? |

I am currently working as a translator. The best thing to do is to get yourself a post-graduate qualification. To make real money in translation you either need to work for a UN specialized agency or international organization (UNDP, UNESCO, WTO etc) or a European Union body like the European Commission. Failing that, open your own translation agency and let other translators do all the work while you skim the cream off the top. |
