Hi there! Has anybody been to Bashkortostan or the city of Oktyabrsky or know anything about the Centre of International Studies school there? Thanks. |

This links to a guy who wrote a book about the town - to read with some care - the author was more interested in finding a wife than in finding a teaching job.
His perspective seems to be as much social as educational - salary isn't important - nor is accurate spelling and grammar. |

Well I have heard good and bad about this school. So I suppose it will up to the individual to sort it out. It does not sound like a place for the experienced and established teacher but since am neither and they offer training, it may be the only place I can go for the time being. |

I worked at this school and can definitely recommend it. It may not be for the experienced teacher inasmuch as the pay is very low, although it's enough to live on as living costs are so low in that neck of the woods and free accomodation 5 mins walk from school is provided. But as a cultural experience it's great. People are just amazed to meet a Real Foreigner, esp the babushkas who you buy your fruit and veg from, some are wary but most are curious and will want to talk to you. The staff at the school are absolutely lovely and will make you part of their little community, weekly sauna trips, picnics etc. I've made some lifelong friends in Oktyabrsky and that alone made it worth working there. |
