Taking 40 winks in the middle of the day may reduce the risk of death from heart disease, particularly in young healthy men, say researchers.
A six-year Greek study found that those who took a 30-minute siesta at least three times a week had a 37% lower risk of heart-related death.
The researchers took into account ill health, age, and whether people were physically active.
Experts said napping might help people to relax, reducing their stress levels.
It is known that countries where siestas are common tend to have lower levels of heart disease, but studies have shown mixed results. |

Hrmmm... did the study say anything about taking a 4 hour siesta in the middle of the day? 30 minutes is never enough for me! |

I used to think that siestas were for lazy people. But that's when I lived in Canada and we took advantage, in the winter at least, of every possible minute of daylight. The nights were long enough! But now, with people wanting to party all around me late at night, and having early classes and a long break in the middle of the day...a siesta is a great way to relax after swimming and sitting by the pool! |

I have early classes and a long break in the middle of the day, but I don't have anything resembling swimming and sitting by the pool. Sometimes I get to take a nap in between lesson plans. What am I doing wrong?????

The campus at Hlamb's school is a little unique, to say the least. You don't actually swim in that pool, do you? I do like the semi-outdoor classrooms ringing the back property wall.
My Acapulco midday siestas used to involve a hotel pool and swim-up bar, or a hammock under a mango tree. |

No, I wouldn't swim in that pool. It looks pretty but I don't think it's very clean. Besides, swimming at school seems a bit weird. I am very lucky that I have a pool at home... |
