I am here staying with some friends in Villahermosa for a bit before I move onto Merida. Is there anyone around these areas who'd like to impart some advice? I've a TESL Certificate and would like to start teaching soon. Are there any good recommendations for schools you could pass on? Also, is it possible to get an FM3 as an independent contractor (i.e. not affiliated with any particular school)? I've heard this may be an option, and if this is true, I'd like to see if I can get one here in Villahermosa and travel to Merida with it. I've heard that as long as I'm responsible for my own taxes this is an option... any truth to that?

The rules require you do an address change on any FM3 within 30 days of moving. So once in Merida you would have to go in and give them your new address and you probably would want to set up with a new accountant locally.
