listening to these stories over the years about people taking TEFL'ing jobs out in the counties has confirmed my realization that things really are different outside of taipei.
There's 'Taipei', and then there's the 'rest' of Taiwan. Ha, aha, ha!
in my opinion, taipei is the best place to take a TEFL position - newbies and senior EFL'ers both.
Glad you can look back at it with a sense of humour, though! |

I have to agree with this statement. While the rest of Taiwan slips into the abyss of of the Republic of Corruption, Taipei continues to improve and prosper.
Overall, a rather positive post but in the end this teacher has left Taiwan along with so many other before. That fact in itself is the strongest indication of the true feelings people have about Taiwan under ROC occupation.
