I mean fairly commonly, not in rare cases, and with sneakers like Nike and Reebok. |

If you have a credit card, I'd recommend ordering from amazon.com (not amazon.co.jp) and havin' 'em shipped internationally... or having a friend buy & ship'em from your home country.
Yes, you can find shoes and sneakers in your size at the largest shoe outlets around Japan, but selection will be extremely limited, and is often restricted to the most expensive shoes they've got. Don't expect to find a shoe in you/our size for less than US$100 (10,000 yen or thereabouts). |

I had good luck getting size 11 running shoes in Ueno's Ameyoko district's sporting goods stores. Usually scored a pair in my size in the outlet malls of Kaihin Makuhari (right place? The station w. the Costco, huge convention center & more). That was 2001-'04 though. Back then at least there were Nike, Adidas & a few more sporting goods brand stores @ the outlet mall. I recall seeing size 12 occasionally, too. |

It's a bit difficult for larger sizes, and as previously noted, the styles are usually more limited and tend to be on the expensive side. I usually always buy shoes in the UK or in the USA when I'm outside Japan. I have used Amazon for other things (not for myself, for shipping within the US), but not sure if the shipping costs would make buying shoes through them worth it. |
