In Wuhan I was at a school for 3 years. To start off with there was a house on two floors. The top floor flat was set aside for a family and was very spacious. But downstairs there were five people living in one flat. The actual rooms were very nice, no complaints there, apart from the slightly ugly bathroom floor tiling, but 5 people sharing one kitchen is a bit excessive. I guess they figured that people would eat out most of the time, or would 'all cook together' Rolling Eyes I was on the downstairs flat for the first year and it was mostly fine, except for one incident with a housemate going psycho with my wife for leaving a bit of rice in the ricemaker for like 2 hours (and we were spotlessly tidy the whole time, so it was well OTT).

Then for the 2nd and 3rd year we moved up to the upstairs flat. For the first term of the second year we had the entire flat to ourselves (as the american girl we were meant to be sharing with legged it off back to the US), which was a bit much as it was ginormous, you could literally skateboard round the front room. It was a stunning flat with a roof patio as well. Then for 3 terms we shared with one other couple. But that was fine, as the place was just so huge.

Here in Dalian I have a two bedroom flat off campus provided by my school. It's absolutely fine - a similar place in the UK would cost about 1000 quid a month easily - only downside is the bathroom which sometimes gets a bit smelly for reasons I can't fathom, I think it's the drains outside though, not much I can do about that. Other than that, it's clean, the equipment is all fine (although was a bit crap when we arrived but they have been good about updating that) and we never hear a squeak from our neighbours. To tell the truth though sometimes I miss the social life of the old place in Wuhan where there were always loads of people around to talk to.

What I most like about mine is that it has hot running water to the sinks, the main bedroom with ensuite is as big as a small apartment itself and it's 20 minutes walk to the beach.

And the backyard.

Hi Bayden, I wanted to know more about where you're located. Your apartment looks great. I haven't accepted any jobs yet but what you have looks pretty good to me. Was everything included or did you have to do that on your own? Was the apartment included? If you don't mind me asking where do you work? and so forth and so on. Thanks, you'd be a great help.

I live on the 8th floor of an 11 story building.

Pros and cons:

Brand new bulding. Apartment never lived in. One bedroom good sized, and a living room. small kitchen. pit for a toilet. shower emptys into this pit. Hot water is piped in and unlimited. hot water is not always available as there is some schedule where it is off for a few hours during the day - never really figured it out.

Decent view - some mountains and lots o factories...

Cable tv, maybe 50 channels. all in chinese except Pearl and another channel and sometimes cctv9.

I work for a company in Zhuhai, they pay the apartment, but I found it myself.
Jeffinflorida. With the setup (I'm assuming the little cable box)you have you should be able to pay a little extra and get HBO, BBC news etc. Talk to the building management.

No cable box.. The Factory City has it piped in to all the aprtments so I can't opt up to a higher standard...

Thankfully trips to Dongmen Street to get dvds are easy and it's nice to get into the city sometimes...
