When does the New Year break end in the public universities? I am planning on returning to China in the fall of 2007. I think maybe the best time to apply is at the beginning of next term, just after the New year's break. Also, could anyone tell me the approximate date when university begins in the fall of 2007? I seem to recall it's somewhere around the middle of August.

Many thanks.

Dude, don't be asking this. I wanna enjoy my holiday! I don't want to think too much about returning to chalk-dust-filled classrooms!

First week of March for most.

I think you may be a bit late for most university jobs now. They were filling the vacancies at the middle/end of December. Only the "scum-bucket" jobs left.
The new semester begins next week in many (but not) all unis.
Good luck if you decide to come!!

I don't think I made myself clear or it could be I'm confused. My intention is to start teaching in September of 2007, not March. My plan is to start applying for a job in September after schools return from March break. Is this not feasible?

Yes...your plan is feasible.

I would wait until around March 10, 2007 before I started sending out applications, if I were you. Most of the FAOs will return starting March 2, 2007 and they will first be focused on the problems of the Spring Term.

As for only "the scum-bucket jobs" being left, that is not true. Within the exception of GZ, BJ, SH, it is still mostly on the demand side of the supply-and-demand market in terms of Spring, 2007. It is a fact that salaries get higher as more and more FAOs move into panic mode.
