Too all newbies here, this winter is freakish, don't expect this next year
It was 16 today in Osaka. I went walking in Osakajo without my jacket. It really has felt as if we haven't had a winter this year.
Many days I don't even put the heater on, which is good as I swear that breathing in those petrolum fumes can't be considered a health supplement. |

We have been told how hot it is this winter....but geez, I cant imagine it colder....do you think it really is global warming or do you think this is just a weird year? (I thought the world was having global warming but as soon as I left Louisiana it got really cold..., so I dont know what the deal is...) |

I think it is just a warm winter, this is the warmest I've seen in the 5 years in Japan. Not sure if we even had a winter... |

One of the things that I've always disliked about Japan is that I have a certain fear of both the winter and the summer. Both are pretty nasty so as soon as it starts to warm up in May you think, "Oh God summer will soon be here" and when October brings great temps it quickly descends into, "why doesn't my apartment have central heating?"
But if winters were like this the whole year just seems so much better. It somehow even makes the summer more bearable. |

Well, if it is global warming then give it a few years and we'll see how bearable the summers will be then. |

If you don' like the winters or the summers here then you must have a pretty terrible time. It's either baking or freezing in my experience. I absolutely love the summer here, just perfect for me. people who complain about the summer here are a bunch of pansies. |

Not having to wear a jumper or jacket feels so comfortable, going to the riverside in Kyoto at night and drinking with friends in the evening, just the sensation of feeling hot is nice. And ofcourse, as a man, the viewing opportunities are just excellent. |

I just saw "An Inconvenient Truth" today. Pretty scary stuff.
I'd say there's a good chance we'll have these warm winter temperatures again next year. And warmer the year after that. And warmer still the year after that. Apparently the 10 hottest years on record all occured in the last 14 years. |
